International Electrician Day
International Electrician Day is to be marked on Tuesday 10 June.
This date was chosen in 1986 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the death of André-Marie Amperè.
He is one of the founders of electromagnetism and is the name behind the SI unit amp.
International Electrician Day is an important opportunity to show support for
- The skilled electrical trades, reinforced by recognised training, specialist knowledge and qualifications, evidencing dedication and expertise in safe and effective electrical work .
- Awareness of electrical safety issues, hiring qualified electricians and handling equipment correctly.
- The continued role electricians have to play in the future of electricity supply and generation, from smart meters, to smart grids, from renewable energy to heat pumps.
ECA encourages its members to celebrate on social media channels by promoting what businesses do in commemoration.
The first section of this article appears on the ECA news and blogsite as "International Electrician Day - 10 June" dated 4 June 2025.
